Crossley Fields

head teacher's welcome

On behalf of the children, staff, governors and the wider Crossley Fields community I would like to thank you for visiting our website.

Crossley Fields is a three-form entry culturally diverse primary school in Mirfield, West Yorkshire. There are currently around 555 children in the school.

We hope that you find this website useful in finding out about the school. It has the basic information that you would expect to see, but we have added to this over the past three years to give you a fuller picture of the work of the school. During the pandemic it proved a useful tool in communicating with parents, and we update it regularly.

The Year Group 'bubbles' have been vital in this respect as we have been able to place a lot of useful information for parents behind these and this will continue to be the case moving forward.

This is a very exciting time to be part of the Crossley Fields community, as we firmly embed curricular changes that have been implemented successfully since September 2020 and we use the website to show on-going developments and celebrate that which the staff and children have worked so hard on.

We have not let the pandemic define us, but it has shaped our thinking, and made us as a school evaluate that which is really important to us. This resulted in some very pleasing end of year results for our Y6 children in July 2022, and early indications are that the progress they made from KS1 to KS2 was accelerated. What we teach and how we teach is really important to us, and these results, at a time of disruption are confirmation that we are on the right pathway.

Our school council working with the rest of the children in school have developed our new school core values, that they believe what define our school. They are;

  • Unity
  • Positivity
  • Individuality
  • Perseverance
  • Ambition
  • Loyalty

Enjoy the website, but if you are a prospective parent, wishing to see some of the work we do at the school, please ring the school office for a visit to the school. I have regular slots in my diary to show all interested parties around.

With my very best wishes,

Nick Long
