Healthy Start is a national scheme that eligible families can access to get monetary vouchers to put towards fruit, vegetables, cow’s milk & baby milk. They will also receive a voucher for maternal & child vitamin supplements.

Families will qualify for Healthy Start if ‘Mum to be’ is at least 10 weeks pregnant or there is a child under four years old and the family are in receipt of one or more of the following benefits:

Income Support

Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance

Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

Child Tax Credit with a family income of £16,190 or less per year

Pension Credit; or

Universal Credit with no earned income or total earned income of £408 or less per month for the family. (To find this refer to your Universal Credit award notice in the section “your take home pay for this month”.)

From today (06/04/2020) eligible families can now apply for the Healthy Start National Scheme online by filling in an electronic application form – Applications will no longer require authorisation from a health professional.
