PSHRE (Personal, social,hEALTH and relationships eDUCATION)

Throughout the 2019-2020 academic year, the school worked with a group of parents, governors and staff in collaboration to devise a PSHE curriculum which incorporated the requirements of the new SRE (Sex & Relationships Education) from September 2020. Although there is no requirement to start teaching this element until Summer 2021, the school is ready to begin this teaching.

Below you will find by clicking on the links, the Skills Progression, Planning Tiles for each of the respective core areas of Relationships, Health & Well-Being and Living in the Wider World and an overview as to where children will cover this content from Y1 to Y6.

STATUTORY TEACHING OBJECTIVES FOR PSHE - relationships

STATUTORY TEACHING OBJECTIVES FOR PSHE Health and Mental Wellbeing

Intent

We define PSHE as a subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. It helps children and young people to stay healthy and safe, while preparing them to make the most of life and work. When taught well, PSHE education also helps pupils to achieve their academic potential. We view the partnership of home and school as vital in providing the context of healthy lifestyles and positive relationships.

We ensure PSHE is inclusive and meets the needs of all our pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) by using questions and resources which are designed to meet the needs of our children when they are developmentally ready. We ensure our RSE teaching focuses specifically on equality in all areas of society.

Our school’s overarching aims for our pupils are sub-divided into three main areas:
